James J Allen was born in Framlingham, Suffolk.  He became a professional artist in 1977 and a Member and Exhibitor at the Norwich and Norfolk Art School between 1972 and 1982.  He has been chosen for exhibition at the Royal Academy and the Royal Miniature Society.
James is one of East Anglia’s most accomplished contemporary artists and has regular exhibitions at the Southwold Gallery, Suffolk.  His paintings depicting local landscapes and seascapes are to be found in private collections worldwide.
